As you will be aware from our previous village updates this project has taken several years and we are delighted that our Scouts are going to have a new home at last. However, although the building work has begun, all is not well!
A bit of history
- 1922 Parish Council buy the piece of land to the North of the path on the Recreation Ground. Trust Deed dictates that the land is to be used for the benefit of children and Parish Councilors are the Trustees.
- 1967 Parish Council and Scouts sign agreement for new Scout building on Parish Council land.
- 2005 Scout Hut destroyed by fire
Rotary Club and local charity agree to fund construction costs for a new build
- 2007 Planning permission granted by Warrington Borough Council for replacement Scout Centre. Parish Council refuse permission to build on the land
- 2008 Scouts take legal advice – they have the right to rebuild
Building work begins on new Centre
