Scarecrows, made by the Toddler Group, Pre-school, School children and Scout units, were a new introduction to the village Garden Safari this year and proved popular with young and old alike. Several children and over 140 adults visited the gardens, including residents and visitors new to the area. A delightful letter was sent from a couple from Grappenhall, which summed up the flavour of the day’s event:
“We visited all the 10 gardens on foot and the art exhibition. We had lunch in the marquee, listened to the brass band, bought cards and admired all the scarecrows. We had a most enjoyable day with lots of interesting conversations. Of any event we find these Garden Safaris the most pleasurable. Thank you to all the residents who allowed us to view their lovely gardens.” Gloria & Tony

Following on from their initial 3 year partnership, the Trustees of the Hamilton Davies Trust are delighted to announce the continued funding of a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) for Rixton-with-Glazebrook. A match funding partnership has been agreed with the Cheshire Police Authority to secure the provision of a PCSO for a further 3 years.
Inspector Speding of Cheshire Police Authority with Colette Fairfax of Hamilton Davies Trust following the signing of the Partnership Agreement on 3rd March 2010.
PCSO Bethan Roberts has become an integral part of the community. She provides a much needed link between the Police and various aspects of village life – engaging with residents, the local school, community groups and local businesses. The resulting improvements in communication between the Police and the community are enhancing the quality of life in this rural village.
Inspector Richard Speding said: "PCSOs are a vital part of neighbourhood policing and provide a valuable link between the police and the community.
In Warrington East PCSOs have become a respected and integral part of community life and they are often approached by local people looking to pass on information about crime and nuisance behaviour or those seeking advice and support.
The continued support of organisations such as the Hamilton Davies Trust is important and I am pleased that the link between Cheshire Police and the Trust will continue."
